Capri Carl

Murray Carter , Rouse Kit Car , Group A RS500 (ATCC)

Recommended Posts

A couple of years ago the car was with the owner of Velo Race Seats in Adelaide.

Never got down to have a look at it but he said it was all still very original.

It had 2 consecutive engine bay fires.

Murray was an interesting racer. He was first to supply remote data logging in the Skyline in '87 I think.

Very hitech back then as it was also telecast live (albeit with the huge delay). 8)

cheers Ben

I called into their workshop in Adelaide in a 3dr many years ago, it was funny to see lots of YB parts so far from home. The owner had a 3dr as well back then. Funnily enough I went to high school only a stones throw away from their place.

A converted 500 was on display at a Ford dealers just down the road from them as well.

Great finds Roy :) Rouse is quoted as saying he built over 20 RS500s and a 100 engines, I always thought they were optimistic figures but as more period pics emerge it looks as if it were very true

Last what I have seen of it. ANZ decals were put on because of the Adelaide Motorsport Festival were it was on display.

Are you sure? Look at the air jack lance on top of the right front wing. Your ANZ car always had that in the side of the wing as far as I can remember. Carter's car had the lance on top on each pic.

You are dead right Roy. I thought I recognised Chris Dubois in the back ground and did not look closely enough at the car. Apologies to everyone

Here is the car at Bathurst 1987 showing whar Roy's eagle eyes picked up

I know who owns the Carter car, but haven’t been able to speak to him. It’s a long term owner.

The Rouse ANZ car is back in the UK now I believe.

The Rouse ANZ car is still in Australia Roy. Today I spoke with the fellow that restored it for the current owner. It is safely tucked away in his garage in Sydney..

I sold it to a client of Bowdens who sold it to its current owner. She is an ex-pat Aussie living and working in the UK.

You are right Robert, I checked my files. Clearly says Australian living in the UK + the name. But won't post the name on here for obvious reasons.

The Carter car should be in Adelaide if I have been informed correctly.
