What are you fantastic car !!!

The history doesn't get much better than that........ What a piece of kit to have in your garage Amazing !!!

I new Malcolm from Trakstar very well back in the day I have shared a few hotel rooms with him (That sounds a bit worrying) I spend time with him out in New Zealand when we done Nissan Mobil 500......

Great car one of my favourites! Massive history.

A pic I had on my computer didn't realise it was your car in Mach 1 graphics.

Does your brother still have the escort andy? Seen the escort and your Sierra many years ago sure it was Combe, long time ago.

You could never get bored looking at photos of your car Andy.

I think it's one of the best looking racecars I have ever seen it is a real credit to you the way you look after it. Just a shame it hasn't got any decent history. Lol......

Let's see some more photos of it please Andy......

Cheers Jim

Andy got to admit, i prefer the car with split rims on than the gold ones...

But no matter what its stunning, hope we can get to see and hear it out on track at some point next year.

cheers Paul.

Weren't the RS style wheels fitted to the latter DJR cars originally? I believe the ran the first 2 seasons on BBS.

I prefer the RS style wheels on the DJR cars though. Even when I am a big BBS fan!

Evenin Paul, Jim and all,

DJR1 does run a Harrop diff with spool, it has been very reliable and there is a huge range of ratio's available at sensible money, you have to get used to the spool diff as understeer is bad but traction is excellent.

Does the spool behave like a welded diff?? I´m norwegian you know :o

My snow drifting cars is very controllable at speed going sideways.. but I cant understand that a car with 500-600bhp

is good at high speed either..

Dont get me wrong I love the predictive feel off a welded diff

(it does not matter if one wheel is on the tarmac and one in the snow during a drift) with a open diff you can't do that!

but I am pretty sure that it is a huge job to keep a monster

powered Sierra with a diff like that on the road.. It needs to drift to go trough a corner ;D

even a 100bhp standard sierra is all over the place with a welded diff :o

Ah.. look at this driving!! Inboard from 1:57!! Oversteer/understeer/ and every steer ;D ;D

Good morning Andy

Thank you for that information I have driven other cars with spool diff and I do understand exactly what you're saying they do suffer with very bad understeer..... Looks like I'll just have to get used to it again. Lol

Yes you are correct a spool diff is the same as if you welded the planet gears in an open diff.....

Mike Smith commented last year that the cars felt like they had a welded diff in them when Trakstar bought them from DJR

I believe it was only Trakstar and BBR that ran them in the UK/Europe all the others used the Ford 9" but they were commonplace in Aus.

Hi Paul

Yes that is what I have being told as well Trackstar and BBR and as my car is a BBR car that makes sense as mine has a Aussie Harrop diff in it as well..

Cheers Jim
