Paul B

Build 492, also Moonstone Blue.

Recommended Posts

Here goes guys, the story of my car not quite so interesting than Paul s, build 499, but I have known the car for a long time now..

But before the car, quick boring bit about me!!  ::)  I'm 41, married last year, 2 children, daughter age 6 and my little mini me aged 2.  Both already into cars, my little boy always asking to watch racing cars on my lap top, and car crashes on you tube... lol.

Cars, at age 17, 2 mk 1 Fiesta XR2's

18, series 1 Escort RS Turbo, had around 7 of them..

                  20, my 1st 3dr Cosworth

21, my 1st RS500, was a black one, E421 FUR, I brought it from a British Super Bike Racer Terry Rimer, sold it to Mark Shead "MA Developments" he made it a well known road car with 545bhp in the end.

Owned few Subaru's, & BMW's, but always went back to, and will never ever be without a Cosworth.

RS500s owned, 3 white ones, 5 black ones, one of them onwed twice.. and 2 Moonstone, 492 being one of them, and this is the 3rd time I have owned this car.

Anyway back to the car, 1st time round I brought it, was i think 1996/1997, i brought it from a well known RS specialist "Automotive Ulimited", the car as owned by a guy from Wales that had a few nice Fords, and this car was brought to replace his Moonstone RS500 that had been stolen, his stolen car was converted to 4wd, and 492 was brought to replace that car, thank god he never got round to converting this car, it had just under 30000 miles, and loads of history with it, me being the fussy person I am I had the whole car painted, body kit off etc etc, and little bit done to the engine, but then sold it to real nice RSOC guy up in "Stoke on Trent" he had engine re built, because he wanted bigger bhp.  spec bd14 inlet cam, bd10 exhaust, 6 long studs, wrc gasket, ported head, 3 anglet valve seats, motorsport developments live map, on level 8 ecu, closed loop lambda control etc.  perferct fast road spec engine, silent as can be, even on cold start its silent, he also had underside refurbed, I brought car back off him, then sold it again to some guy up in Merseyside, who didn't use it, he sold it to "Ash" who again didn't use it, now its back home safe and sound with me, few polishes later, its pretty much mint again, and 38000 miles on clock.

tickford info.

mileage in 7 miles

mileage out 21 miles

arrived on 28th July 1987

left on 5th August 1987

I'm sure you have seen pics of my car on other threads, I have just ordered some proper Image Split Rims, so as soon as they come in, I will get some pics up. ;D

Nice to see another road car profile in here at last  8), the race car boys are beating us in numbers still

We started the same, series 1 then 3dr then 500 but you managed to cram them closer together time wise, it  took me 20 years to go from 3dr to 500  :)

492 has to be a keeper now Paul

This rings a bell, I nearly bought it around 4 years ago if it's the same one, it was in Stafford at the time, it had headlamp covers, and a few shiney bits under the bonnet and a decent amount of bhp, a real stunner.
